2024 A Bookish Look Back

2024 was a great year for my bookish life. I read 123 books. I will link to my year on Goodreads and reading wrap-up on The Story Graph.

With that I wanted to share my favorite reads for this past year.

In young adult it was Dungons and Drama by Kristy Boyce.

A book I bought for the sprayed edges and fell in love with is The Wren in the Holly Library by K. A. Linde.

The book that was hyped on Bookstagram that I think is more than worth it was Quicksilver by Callie Hart.

I also got to go back to Deborah Harkness' All souls series in the Black Bird Oracle.

Then discovered a whole new series by the brilliant Sarah J. Maas' Crescent City, House of Earth and Blood, House of Sky and Breath, and House of Flame and Shadow.

I also jumped head first into audio books and using Alexa app to read Kindle books to me. This help me not only to wake up and get my family moving but was fun too. Of the Audiobook my favorites are produced by Graph Audio Dramatization with a full cast.

This past year 1 got to go to two different bookish events. The first one was a Barnes and Noble midnight release of Sarah J. Maas' House of Flame and Shadow.

If you have not gone to one you should. It is a great place to meet other Bookish people. They have trivia, scavenger hunt, and a give away.

These events are so much fun. I also went to Reader's Take Denver. There has been some major controversy about, so much so that they will not be doing another. My personal experience was a good one. Partly because I found an amazing group to hang out with. Shout out to author Amber Thoma, Jess a.k.a. hotdogladyreads, and Lauren Bunch.

I wasn't able to to see all the different authors but I was able to meet Amber Thoma (obviously), Jamie Applegate Hunter, Mariah Ankenham and Holly Renee.

The event was fun for me and I had a good time. But there were a lot of issues, which I'm not going to go into. I love conventions. From meeting new people, discovering new fandoms and getting incredible merchandise. Bookish conventions a becoming more prevalent. Because I have two kids in school I don't get to travel very much for myself. So mostly I try and go to as many events in Denver, CO.

2025 is a year that I am looking forward. With all the new books coming out over the next year, I’ve already got a few pre-ordered. I have some personal projects of my own that have me just as excited.

One of which is learning how to paint the edges of my books, as I got an airbrush kit for Christmas that I can’t wait to use.

Another thing I got was a book binding kit Another is my own writing projects that I have been working on for a while.

I wish you all a very happy Bookish New Year to you all. Thank you for being a part of my own Bookish journey.

To see what I am reading next, you can find me on Goodreads or on The Story Graph. You can also follow me on Instagram, Pinterest, or Facebook.

Until next time, enjoy what you’re reading.
