Volume: 1
I am a huge fan of female lead characters disguising themselves as boys. This just takes it to a whole new level where magically she becomes a man. The relationships that she forges with her house-mates is complicated from the start. Her childhood best friend and her have just started a new relationship and now they are living with five others.
The complexity of the distinct characters and their relationships with each other and those around them is written to hook you from the first page. It is a fast read, but one that keeps you engaged and you will be done before you know it.
I love how they explained magic in this world. That it also can’t fix everything like Jewel’s mom, for instance. Magic isn’t going to just fix everything, which is refreshing for a change. I can’t wait to read the next book in this series Reflections of Me: Year Two.

“What do you do when your mother signs you up for the prestigious Brighten Academy of Magic?
You pack up your things, grab your familiar, and pray this doesn’t go horribly wrong.
With a sweet Mother like mine, whose mind is slowly deteriorating thanks to her Alzheimer’s, it’s my role to make her happy. After my older brother’s death, I vowed to make her smile and do whatever she asked.
So when she pulls some strings and somehow gets me a golden ticket into the all-male school, Brighten Magic Academy, there’s no way I can refuse.
Now here I am, stuck in a dorm house with six sexy males - all far too attractive for their own good and with magic that can make you fall to your knees in submission and awe.
But I can survive this ordeal because I’m a boy.
Well, between you and me, I’m actually a girl using magic, pretending to be a guy, so you can see my dilemma.
What’s the worst that can happen? I guess you're about to find out.”
