Duke is a star football and student president. He has everything going for him until an unexpected injury makes him have to rethink his entire future. Vi is his vice president that has a reputation of being hard to work with. She is defiantly not what you would call a people person. But then the two have to figure out how to work together. Duke needs her help with his girlfriend, who wants to take a break. While Vi relaxes using video games only to have Duke enter her world. Will they be able to work together?
This is a young adult contemporary retelling of Shakespeare's Twelfth Night. Vi is a hard person to like, but she is fiercely loyal to those she calls friends, even how few that may be. She is more of a mix of Viola and Kat from the Taming of the Shrew. Duke is someone who is on a journey of self-discovery. The dialog between the two of them is amazing and made me laugh out loud many times. The story is a brilliant retelling and has such a great nerdy gaming theme throughout. This book was also awarded the Reese's Book Club Summer YA Pick '24. I enjoyed reading this book it totally took me back to my own high school adventures.

Product description and Images are from amazon.com:
“Viola Reyes is annoyed.
Her painstakingly crafted tabletop game campaign was shot down, her best friend is suggesting she try being more “likable,” and her school's star running back Jack Orsino is the most lackadaisical Student Body President she’s ever seen, which makes her job as VP that much harder. Vi’s favorite escape from the world is the MMORPG Twelfth Knight, but online spaces aren’t exactly kind to girls like her—girls who are extremely competent and have the swagger to prove it. So Vi creates a masculine alter ego, choosing to play as a knight named Cesario to create a safe haven for herself.
But when a football injury leads Jack Orsino to the world of Twelfth Knight, Vi is alarmed to discover their online alter egos—Cesario and Duke Orsino—are surprisingly well-matched.
As the long nights of game-play turn into discussions about life and love, Vi and Jack soon realise they’ve become more than just weapon-wielding characters in an online game. But Vi has been concealing her true identity from Jack, and Jack might just be falling for her offline…”
