Vincula Ream: The Umber King & Aeternum

This is a Duology of the Vincula Realm which includes The Umber King & Aeternum. Rory watched as someone brutally murdered her twin sister and then take her soul. Since then, Rory has become a vigilante killer, going after only those with black souls. One mistake sends her to Vincula, the prison realm. Caius is not happy with the newest inmate and makes his feeling known to all in the realm. But nothing is as it seems.

The story is one that you get pulled into from the beginning. We quickly learn why Rory does the things that she does. She only has the idea of saving others from what happened to her sister. The development of Rory’s character is so brilliant, yes she’s broken and flawed, but she is strong too. Caius can be an ass, but he’s perfect for Rory. Their friends are protective of both of them and are great at helping the story along without it feeling like a data dump. I enjoyed reading this book and look forward to reading Sam’s story, Silenced Fate.

The Umbra King:

The morally grey don’t want redemption. They want retribution.

After the brutal murder of her twin sister, Aurora “Rory” Raven spends years forging herself into a ruthless vigilante killer.

She never gave up her search for the man who killed her sister, but when she is convicted of thirteen murders and sentenced to five-hundred years in Vincula, the prison realm, she knows her sister’s death will never be avenged.

After arriving in Vincula, Aurora discovers her opportunity for retribution is closer than she thought.

Caius is the notorious Umbra King, ruler of Vincula, King of the Monsters, and the thing nightmares are made of. After being locked in his own realm for a crime he didn’t commit, his only focus has been revenge.

But when Aurora drops into his throne room, representing everything he despises, they begin a game of cat and mouse, and before long, their hatred turns into something else.

Circumstances draw them together, but revenge might tear them apart.

The Umbra King is book 1 in the Vincula Realm Duology and ends on a cliffhanger.

Aeternum:

MAJOR SPOILERS below if you have not read book one (The Umbra King).

This is NOT a standalone. It is the second and final book in the Vincula Realm duology and must be read after The Umbra King. The Vincula Realm duology is a series within the Realms of the Aether multiverse.

Erdikoa

After being released from the prison realm four-hundred and ninety-nine years early, Rory finds herself in Erdikoa with no memory of the last three months and orders to keep her release a secret.

Feeling like an outsider looking in, she tries to acclimate to her new life, but she can’t shake the feeling that something, or someone, is missing.

She begins to question her reality when her sister’s killer plagues her dreams, insisting he’s innocent. But she knows what she saw all those years ago, and she’s faced with a choice: avenge her sister, potentially destroying her life again, or let go of revenge to embrace the second chance she’s been given.

Will she be able to retrieve her memories to help her decide, or will she stay in the dark forever, dreaming of a man she should hate?

Vincula

With a haunting prophecy hanging over his head, Caius races against time to break the magic barrier trapping him in his own realm. With the help of unlikely allies, they discover a solution, giving Caius hope for the first time since Rory’s departure, but it comes at a steep price.

However, the evil they face cannot be underestimated, and the evil within may become necessary.

For her, he will become a monster. For him, she will remain one.

The last installment of the Vincula Realm duology is filled with mystery, romance, and twists to keep you guessing until the very end. This is book two in a duology and cannot be read as a standalone.
