This book is the first of a series, but we don’t know what the series is called yet. Lyra is being traumatized by her stepbrother, Samuel, and ignored and neglected by her parents. Lyra just wants to get away and see the world to make a difference. When she finally is away from her awful family, she learns she isn’t who and what she thought she was. Now she is on a road to discovering herself but also what others are trying to do as well.
The book is one of those books that starts fast and keeps going. Lyra is has not had it easy, but she is coming into her own. Even with everything that has happened to her, she still wants to protect those who can’t do it themselves. This world is filled with magic, with Fae, Lycans, Lamia, and Sorcerers, which gives it a rich mythos. The characters throughout this book keep you guessing as you have to figure out who is friend or foe. I enjoyed this book and look forward to seeing where this book will go from here.
